Getting it wrong with a horse is easy to take because you get chance to reflect on the race and see where you went wrong. However getting it right, as was the case today, and still getting no reward isn’t so easy, especially at present.

We were spot on with Al Rufaa who, if he had anything better than a deplorable ride, would have won with total ease. Held up stone last, and what must have been 20 lengths off of the leader, he flew home but given far too much to do. Still stone last at the 2f pole and still with his jockey yet to come out of a canter, he was beaten half a length into 2nd. Many of you don’t get to watch the races, and at times I get accused of pocket talk, you can watch the replay here and see for your own eyes. A 6/1 winner and a profitable day undone by a jockey error. The 50/1 for the Cambridgeshire is now long gone

HMS President (7/1) one of three horses on the day finishing 2nd, he didn’t look like a horse that wants to win and hung badly when about to hit the front. Armor earlier running well but denied on the line into 2nd.

By the time Gale Force Maya had run the ground had gone soft and with that all chance she had was over before the gates opened, being badly hampered merely rubbed salt into the wounds. The only other occasions she has been declared on soft she has been withdrawn. Sadly not today. Same for the info on Ms Ghandi, shes a quick ground horse who simply had no chance. The amount of rain they had wasn’t forecasted

With all the rain that fell from the midlands upwards I can do nothing tonight but wait and see how the ground is in the morning.
